Bryan Stryeski
Bryan Stryeski is a visual artist and designer living in the Pacific Northwest. He received his B.F.A. in painting from Maine College of Art and Design and an M.F.A. in painting from Yale University. His work has appeared in numerous galleries and is in several private collections around the country.
Bryan maintains an active studio practice and creates a wide range of work in various styles and scales. He has completed many large-scale public works in this area and almost all of the work has been dictated by site, context and community. Recently, he has been collaborating with architects, teachers, students and community members on transformational environmental graphics and murals. He also enjoys making paintings and drawings with the hope to produce them at a much larger size someday. He has a large portfolio of artwork that can be scaled to any size. He is interested in the intersection of Art, Design and Architecture and is invested in making positive change through large scale works which engage with the community and enhance the surroundings.
Most of his work aims to depict the energy, beauty, and complexity found within our surroundings through various modes of representation. Just like our environment, Bryan’s work is constantly shifting and changing gears. Some of the work is very abstract, and other paintings are more literal. His process maintains a balance of intuition and intention. He is constantly making visually interesting and thought-provoking images that evoke a feeling of the collective world which surrounds us. He believes that it's an artist's job to make images which serve as a reflection of our times.
