Liam Miller & Bethany Fackrell

Liam Miller & Bethany Fackrell

As a art duo, we enjoy sharing our heritage through creating our culturally inspired art, utilizing traditional shapes, patterns, and methods. Bethany Fackrell is a veteran and avid Snoqualmie Tribal member with a passion for traditional art from a young age. As a child her tribe had always been a 2nd home, and the foundation for that home is family. "Memories of our office trailer, where my elders fought for our tribe’s re-recognition. Memories of gifting when we had next to nothing to give, catching salmon from night till morning, and gatherings at our sacred falls. Decades of memories, most importantly memories of my canoe family." As her experiences and teachings grow so does her art. She uses traditional Salish patterns in a contemporary way to bring her culture to light, and to share her peoples' ways that differ from many other Native American Tribes. Her art pieces offer this by spreading teachings, stories, and real experiences. Both his practices of Hawaiian culture and passion for art have been big parts of Liam Miller's past as well. Utilizing his knowledge gained through life & collegiate level studies of art & tech, combined with lifelong practices and beliefs influenced by Hawaiian values his art has developed to have a unique and creative feel and perspective. We came together when realizing we shared a strong passion and deep appreciation for art & our Native Backgrounds and traditions which we've practiced throughout our lives, individually and now together! Through sharing our beliefs and ethnic practices, we discovered many similarities between the Snoqualmie and Hawaiian lifestyles. Those similarities along with unique differences consistently fuel our creativity, giving our collaborative works a cooperatively unique artistic approach, and a blend of fuzed Salish & Hawaiian traditional and personal styles that you don't often see from individuals.
