Kate Cendejas Thun

Kate earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Painting and Fine Art from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA in 2002. In the summer of 2003, Kate moved her studio to a warehouse in Tacoma, where she started the Catbox Collective, creating a space for emerging Northwest artists to share their work. Kate has lived and created artwork in the Pacific Northwest where she lives with her husband and 3 sons. She continues to paint murals, create studio art, teach art privately and in local elementary schools as well. Kate’s painting style is imaginative, bright, and whimsical. She believes strongly in community, and values the collaborative process. Her art reflects an enthusiastic love for life, as well as her overall desire to make the world a fun and happy place. Kate’s artistic practice is mostly acrylic paint and watercolor as of lately, with some 3-D as well.
