Biography

Maria Jost is a science instructor and science illustrator in Tacoma, Washington. The subjects of art and science have always been dual interests: she is drawn to study nature by the intricate beauty of the patterns found in ecosystems and organisms, and her artwork is inspired in turn by an understanding of the complex biological processes of the natural world. Maria primarily works with watercolor, ink and collage in her illustrations, and has recently added digital collage to her skill set in order to work on larger scale projects.
