Mary Mann

Mary Mann

Mary Mann is a Tacoma native, (completely in love with the city), with extensive experience creating public art murals and maintaining a studio practice of personal paintings. Her classical and realistic style is often combined with imaginative narratives. Her latest public mural projects include the "Ripple Effect" on the Schuster Parkway underpass, and the "Dandelion Rebellion" on 6th Ave in Tacoma. Mary has gained a strong foundation in color theory, figure drawing and design concepts through her education at the Colorado Institute of Art and workshops at the Gage Academy. She has studied with Juliette Aristides, Gary Faigin and Gabrielle Bakker. Beginning with her first public mural in 1995 for the Historic Stadium District, she has contributed to multiple collaborative and individual projects around the city including the North Pacific Bank Train mural on S. 56th St., The Tacoma Little Theater and The Antique Sandwich Co. Her extensive list of commercial clients includes the Pt. Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, Pacific Science Center, Nickelodeon and Broadcasting Supply Worldwide. Her excellent project managements skills are equally matched by her creative imagination. During her 15 years of teaching visual art at the Science and Math Institute High School, Mary enjoyed guiding her students through the creation of many real-life projects. Her students have assisted with murals for the Totem Yacht Club, the Ruston neighborhood and Mi Centro. She accepts commissions for large and small exterior murals as well as interior murals for private businesses and homes.
