I enjoy painting scenes that most people would never have the chance to experience, or what I call “intimate landscapes” which also include views above and below the water’s surface. I render my memories of SCUBA diving on paper, as evident in my popular Tidepool series, which bursts with the color and textures of seascapes. Other favorite subject matters include plants, reflections and wooden boats with lots of character. My paintings have sold in Washington & Oregon galleries. I've been invited to paint sea life for the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, art chairs for the NW Furniture Bank's annual Chair Affair auction and have painted murals as far away as St. Thomas. John Singer Sargent, Gustav Klimt and Winslow Homer are major influences in my art. Although most of my creations lean towards realism, I also enjoy creating whimsical abstract scenes that represent life in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
