Nofo Porter

Nofo Porter

Nofo Porter (she/her) identifies as a first generation Samoan/American queer visual artist. Born in Honolulu, HI, she has lived all across the South Puget Sound area of Washington for the past 30+ years. From her transient childhood of moving town to town within that area, to later being mentored by truly heroic local artists who work tirelessly for the betterment of their neighborhoods, Nofo now grounds her artist practice here in the city of Tacoma. All efforts are balanced between the ongoing creation of bold studio pieces and values-driven community murals. Her style folds in rich color schemes, graphic shapes, portraits, figures and cultural references to her Samoan upbringing. With her overall body of work, if one could step back and take it all in, Nofo hopes to tell her story of recovery, community, love, and feverish desire to transcend ideas of self.
